Greetings fellow citizens and bloggers! I hope I find you well. I am very excited to introduce this innovative concept to our website- the Clerk’s Blog.

The idea of the Clerk’s Blog was conceived in direct response to our strategic endeavor to promote the involvement of the public and other key stakeholders in the business of Parliament through deploying ICTs in public information dissemination. This is not only in tandem with our strategic drive towards establishing an e-Parliament, but is also responsive to the requirements of Section 141 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe which obliges Parliament to “facilitate public involvement in its legislative and other processes and in the processes of its committees.” The blog is, therefore, one of the many platforms through which Parliament of Zimbabwe is attempting to respond to this constitutional mandate by providing a forum for the public to contribute in real time to current topical issues in Parliament.

While on one hand Parliament is, to all intents and purposes, a highly political institution the Clerk’s Blog on the other hand, is a purely technical platform focusing on public education and public information dissemination on Parliament’s legislative, procedural and other processes. To this end, the Blog seeks to provide timeous insight into the major events that will be happening at Parliament as well as advice on procedural and legislative issues. The political nuances are best left to the politicians themselves.

As we kick-start this journey together, it is my hope that you will find the content of this Blog useful and our interaction mutually edifying.
