JOB AND TASK DESCRIPTION

 

 

Job Title:          Legal Research Internship

 

Department:      Counsel to Parliament                        

 

Time frame:      12 Months Contract (non-renewable)

 

Reports To:       Assistant Counsel to Parliament

 

 

 

Job summary

 

The legal intern will be assigned to undertake research on Bills and Statutory Instruments tabled before Parliament and other legislative analysis requirements relating to the mandate of the Department.

 

Person specification

 

Education: Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB)

Expectations:

  • Experience in conducting research on legal issues and an understanding of Constitutional Law.
  • An ability to identify and analyse legal issues.
  • An ability to research and deliver reports in a timely manner.
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to provide administrative assistance when required.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in the English language.
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to work on simultaneous issues to strict deadlines.
