Academic Achievement


  • He attained the Institute of Personnel Management Diploma (Zimbabwe), ICS, IT PIP diploma, Bachelor of Science Honours in Politics and Administration from the University of Zimbabwe and Master of Business Administration degree.

Career in General

  • In 1985 he was a Personnel Administrator for Four Way Investments Company. In 1988 he was elected Vice President of Student Representative Council of the University of Zimbabwe.  In 1989 he worked for the Ministry of Public Service as an Industrial Relations Officer. In April 1991 he was appointed Traditional Chief. In April 1992 he served as Human Resources and Administration Manager for Philips International PLC.  In May 1993 he moved to MBB (Pvt) Ltd to work as Human Resources Consultant.  He was elected councillor for Ward 12, Masvingo Rural District Council in 1993.
  • Between June 1995 and January 1998 he worked as Managing Consultant for Coopers and Lybrand. From 1988 to April 2000 he was  the  Divisional  Manager: Organisation  Development  and  Human Resources for KPMG Zimbabwe. Between May 2000 and December 2000 he worked for the World Bank as an Institutional Change Specialist. He worked in collaboration with numerous international organisations in the areas of institutional development and change management.

Parliamentary Career

  • In  2000  he  was  elected  by  the  Chiefs Council  to  represent  Masvingo provincial chiefs as Member of Parliament. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing. He was elected President of the Chiefs' Council and senator in 2005.   He was re-elected the same in the March, 2008 and July 2013 elections respectively
