Research
The Research Department works exclusively for all Members and Committees of the Parliament of Zimbabwe in support of their legislative, oversight and representational functions. It is there to equip both Senators and Members of House of Assembly with information that will assist them to handle technical and complex nature of legislative business. Members of Parliament require information as they go about their multiple tasks such as Committees, Constituency representatives and most importantly as delegates to regional, national and international meetings. These various tasks require that Parliamentarians must be able to criticise, propose, and vote from very informed perspectives. To be able to perform these functions Parliamentarians must have access to expert assistance. The Parliament of Zimbabwe Research Department is mandated to provide this expert advice.The Research Department falls under the Directorate of Information Services and serves all Members and Committees of Parliament. It is headed by a Chief Research Officer, who reports to the Principal Director, supported by a team of Research Officers with multi-disciplinary qualifications and research experience. more >>
Library
Parliament library was established to support information requirements for MPs, Staff and Public Information requirements; subjects areas covered are social sciences.The library also subscribes for daily and weekly newspapers.Parliament library is running a parallel system of catalogs, the manual system and the CDS/ISIS computer system in managing its resources.
