Another significant amendment was, Constitutional Amendment No. 7 which removed the nominal or titular presidency to the Executive Presidency. Before this change the Prime Minister who was the Head of Government was also a Member of Parliament. The Executive President, who is the Head of State and Government, is not a Member of Parliament but can seat and address the august House whenever he wishes. He has power to dissolve Parliament without the obligation of acting on the advice of Cabinet. He shares legislative authority with Parliament.
